Course objectives
This course aims to be a practical and interactive professional (post-graduate) course that reflects the demand by regulators, shareholders and other key stakeholders for sustainable and ethical/ compliant business, and also the growing pressures stemming from national and international business environment. No successful corporation can nowadays operate without a robust governance, risk and compliance framework ensuring compliance with key legal and regulatory requirements and ethical principles; a successful business requires forward looking (effective) risk management strategies and it has also become a norm that investors observe sustainability performance prior to joining their capital with a business endeavor.
Having successfully passed this course, the course participants will be able to actively contribute towards building and maintaining a compliance culture through effective tone from the top, critically asses the functioning of internal compliance management systems and improve their design and operation in a way that they fully comply with current legal expectations and expectations derived from applicable international (compliance) standards.
Learning outcomes and competencies
There are 3 main learning objectives of this course (underpinned by best practices' sharing) – i.e. to get/ master the below abilities:
- Ability to understand, create and especially promote a positive compliance and ethical culture in a competitive business environment (and consequently also the ability to set the tone from the top effectively and to lead by example);
- Ability to conduct an effective compliance risk assessment and also to realise how to interpret its outputs effectively (and how to transfer some of the identified risks into opportunities), together with the ability to manage the individual compliance risks and to design, implement, and maintain an effective framework of controls and processes in that respect (the so-called compliance management system);
- Ability to manage effective corporate governance models supporting delivery of strategic business goals within applicable legal and regulatory framework.
